On February 18, 2022, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it was investigating complaints of 4 infants infected with Cronobacter sakazakia and Salmonella Newport. According to the FDA, these infants were reported to have consumed milk powder (brands include Similac, Alimentum and EleCare) produced at Abbott's Sturgis, Michigan facility (registration number 1815692). based on preliminary findings, consumers are advised not to buy and consume the following infant formula milk powder from the involved enterprises:

1. The first two digits of the product code are numbers 22 to 37;

2. The code on the container contains K8, SH or Z2;

3. The shelf life is April 1, 2022 and later.

After verification by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), the above-mentioned products have not been exported to China through general trade; the special medical product Similac HMFortifi and infant nutritional supplements for special medical purposes produced by the involved company have records of export to China, and Abbott China has initiated a voluntary recall.

GACC reminds consumers:

1. Temporarily do not purchase the above infant formula milk powder through any channels.

2. If you purchase relevant batches of infant formula milk powder from the company through non-general trade channels (such as overseas shopping), immediately suspend consumption.

3. If you purchase the above-mentioned special medical products, immediately suspend consumption.

The General Administration of Customs will closely follow up the FDA's investigation and inform consumers in a timely manner.
